Leap Day

Made up of all the stolen minutes
Gathered in a year
Until 24 hours are collected.
A day out of time
A day that doesn't count
A day to do anything
Out of the ordinary.
A day to take
A leap of faith.

Snow potential
Potentially exciting the kids.
Like flakes dancing in their veins
The blood pulses and swirls
Causing all kinds of traffic problems
Like a pile up on the highway
We have side swipes and head ons
Wipe outs and white outs.
Maybe we'll have a snow day!

Tightrope walking acrobat

Flying across phone wires

Sending messages

In their chatter

As they scurry in their busy lives.

Cats lazing in the sun

They know the best way

To spend a sunny Saturday.

A long week for a 4 day week.

Overloaded before

The kids even get here.

Tired and crabby
