Other days at the Lake
Chores done
Work accomplished
everyone ready to relax

Laughs flowing
Like the beer and diet cokes
Sun peeking out
Light a flashbulb
Capturing the moment
When memories are made.

In spite of cold
Because of clouds
Whether it's going to rain or not
I 'm still going to work in the garden

Gone golfing

that I'm uncertain.

Sky so blue
It makes the green shine.
Breezes floating blossoms
On the fresh tide.
Children's giggles
As they escape the indoors
And wander into Spring.

Reconnecting
Memory dots
Skipping over years
To reminisce
Remembering the good
Remodeling the past
To make room
For today.

To teach
Perchance to dream
Of future stars
And healthy minds
Of people of compassion
And intelligence
To think beyond tomorrow
To reach beyond yourself
To imagine a future
Full of promise.

To rest
Fingers poised above the keys

Sometimes I wonder about people
We only hear the loud and silly thoughts
But sometimes
In the quiet compassion
We find the true heart of America.
