What seems of utmost urgency
Fades into the background
When reality takes the stage.
Spotlight's on the people-
the rest is only props and timing.

Feast of St Joseph

My grandma taught me
The love of Saints,
The beautiful holy cards
That held
Their lives,
Their stories,
Their fates.
Like heroes in a fairy tale
I longed to see them
Live happily ever after
Even if it was in Heaven.

The hardest part of teaching
Is knowing we can't make them learn.
Like an inoculation
We can give them a shot of wisdom
But then it's up to each individual cell
To do its part.

New growth
Like snakes
being coaxed
From the ground
Anointed with the
Fruit of the vine

The sight of the first snowfall
Fills us with wonder
All the imagining
Packed into tiny crystals
Perfectly formed.
Winter in our minds.

Of shoveling and snow drifts
When will it all end?
The frozen dreams
Of winter in Minnesota.

Technology
Is a great invention
When it works.
Computers
are a time saver
when functioning correctly.
Calculators
Are great
If you push the right buttons.
When all else fails
Pencil and paper
Do the trick.

A glass of wine
Makes even the most mundane topic
A fascinating conversation.
